Process & technology highlights

In an Airlay line, the material is opened down to individual fibers and formed into a web with randomized fiber orientation. This supports isotropic properties and consistent quality across a wide range of recipes.

Web formation is based on a proven two-step concept Airlay FUTURA V21/R + K12, valued for intensive fiber opening, excellent web regularity, and high flexibility even with recycled input. An optional high-loft module increases web volume/bulk by boosting vertical fiber orientation. This enables higher loft at the same basis weight (or a lower basis weight at the same thickness) and improves resilience for lofted applications.

Downstream thermal bonding ensures stable final properties depending on your fiber mix and product requirements.

The line is configured as an end-to-end setup—from controlled feeding through web formation to bonding and line control.

• Fiber feeding & dosing (2023) via hopper feeder and weighing system for stable, consistent material supply
• Airlay Card FUTURA V21/R (2023): forms a uniform pre-web
• Airlay Card K12 FUTURA (2023): opens the material down to individual fibers and creates the characteristic randomized (3D) fiber orientation
• Optional: High-Loft device for K12 (2023): increases web volume/bulk by boosting vertical fiber orientation (higher loft at the same basis weight)
• Optional: V12/R mode (compact one-step operation): move the K12 out on the rail system and activate the bottom suction module; space-saving and particularly suitable for recycling/natural-fiber applications and higher basis weights (full V21/R + K12 capability remains available)
